Emergent Bilingual Student Reports by Language and Grade

Overview

The reports include counts of students identified as Emergent Bilinguals (EBs) by language and grade.

The data are compiled from the October snapshot of the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS), a statewide data system for public education information in Texas. School districts submit their data, which are defined in a yearly publication, the TSDS TEDS Data Standards.

These reports include students enrolled in public school districts and charter schools. The reports do not include students in private schools.

Reported Information

Home Language: the language spoken in the student's home, as determined by the student's home language survey. See 19 TAC, Section 89.1215.

Grade: student's grade level on the fall snapshot date (last Friday in October).

Grade Range (in district level web page reports): the grades served by the district based on reported enrollment.

Low Grade (in district level comma-delimited files): the lowest grade served by the district based on reported enrollment.

High Grade (in district level comma-delimited files): the highest grade served by the district based on reported enrollment.

Note: Certain values are masked to comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements. Please see the note at the bottom of each report for more details on masking.
