AEIS Reports Update
February 2007

In February 2007, an error was discovered affecting the TAKS first administration "All Tests" line on 2005-06 and 2004-05 AEIS reports for Grade 3 and Grade 5 (English and Spanish). These results are "report-only" indicators on the AEIS and are not used in determining accountability ratings.  For grade 3 students, these results provide the percent of students who passed all tests taken in the February reading administration and April mathematics administration.  For grade 5 students, these results provide the percent of students who passed all tests taken in the February reading administration, early April mathematics, and the late April science administrations.

The error did not affect all districts or campuses; however, the state and region results which are printed on district AEIS reports and the state results printed on campus AEIS reports were affected. The 2005-06 reports for campuses, districts, regions and state were corrected and annotated as of February 16, 2007. The 2004-05 reports were corrected as of March 2, 2007. Note that only AEIS reports that include either grade 3 and/or grade 5 TAKS results were affected. For districts and campuses with "All Tests" results that were affected by the error, the passing rate shown for "All Tests" was lower than the correct rate. The median error for a campus was about -2%, but some reports showed a larger discrepancy.

The "All Tests" row for these two grades for 2005 was also affected on the 2004-05 AEIS report.  This row will be updated by March 2, 2007.  On the 2004-05 reports, only the 2005 "All Tests" data for grades 3 and 5 needed to be updated. No update was made to the 2004 line.

Since this error was limited to the report-only indicators on the AEIS reports, this problem does not affect reports other than the AEIS, so the state accountability ratings, the state accountability data tables, School Report Cards, and the Pocket Edition are unaffected.

The graphic below specifies which rows changed. Superintendents were alerted via an email sent on Feb. 22, 2006.
