When Selecting Data Elements:

Most data elements are grouped logically. For example, when selecting "Grade 4 & 7, Writing, 2005," a group of 26 variables will be included in the downloaded data.

When Selecting File Format:

When using comma delimited, tab delimited, or fixed format, the data element or variable name will be on the first row of the downloaded file. Accessing the Master Reference for Data Elements Used in the Accountability System will provide a more detailed description of the downloaded elements.

Note that these files exceed 64K, and should therefore be viewed using database software such as Access or Excel, or an editor such as Wordpad.
