General Comments
These reports include counts of students identified as English Learners (ELs) by instructional language program participation, special education status, and grade.
The data are compiled from the October snapshot of the
Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS), a statewide data
system for public education information in Texas. School districts submit their data, which are defined in a yearly publication, the TSDS TEDS Data Standards.
These reports include students enrolled in public school districts and charter schools. The reports do not include students in private schools.
Reported Information
Category: The following categories are included.
A. ELs Identified: Counts of students who have been identified as English Learners (ELs) by the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) according to criteria established in 19 TAC, Section 89.1225.
B. Non-Sp Ed ELs In Bil: Counts of EL students who do not receive special education services and participate in bilingual programs.
C. Sp Ed ELs In Bil: Counts of EL students who receive special education services and participate in bilingual programs.
D. ELs In Bilingual: Counts of EL students who participate in bilingual programs.
E. Non-Sp Ed ELs In ESL: Counts of EL students who do not receive special education services and participate in ESL programs.
F. Sp Ed ELs In ESL: Counts of EL students who receive special education services and participate in ESL programs.
G. ELs In ESL: Counts of EL students who participate in ESL programs.
H. ELs In Sp Ed Only: Counts of EL students who receive special education services and do not participate in ESL or bilingual programs.
I. ELs W/Par. Den: Counts of EL students who do not participate in bilingual, special education, or ESL programs, and whose parents denied placement of their children in any special language program.
J. ELs No Programs: Counts of EL students who do not participate in bilingual, special education, or ESL programs, and whose parents did not expressly deny placement in a special language program.
Grade: Student's grade-level on the fall snapshot date (last Friday in October).
NOTE: Certain values are masked to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements. Please see the note at the bottom of each report for more details on masking.
